2026 WSCCA Senior Scholarship Application Information

Application Deadline:

The application will open January 1, 2026 and must be submitted by 11:59 PM on April 1, 2026.

Eligibility:

  • Must be a full-time 12th-grade student or approved alternative education cheer participants at a WIAA member high school with a GPA of 3.0 or higher as of September 1, 2025.

  • Must be in good standing and not on suspension or probation during the 2025-26 school year.

  • Must graduate high school in May – June 2026 and enroll full-time at a U.S. college, university, or trade school for Fall 2026.

  • Must be part of a team with a coach who is an active WSCCA member for the 2025-2026 school year.

  • Must have no criminal record.

Important Note:

WSCCA scholarship committee members, their families, or household members are not eligible. Sponsors' decisions on eligibility are final.

To Apply:

Submit your application by 11:59 PM on April 1, 2026 by way of https://wscca.scholarship.app The form includes personal details, athletic/activity achievements, academic records, leadership roles, community service, a video resume, and an essay. Essays must be original and written by the Applicant. Only one application per person is allowed. WSCCA are not responsible for late, incomplete, or lost entries.

  • All submitted materials become the property of the WSCCA.

  • Applicants must provide truthful, verifiable information and confirm the essay has not been published, won awards, or been submitted elsewhere.

  • Applications must not violate laws, rights, or privacy of others.

  • WSCCA may disqualify applications for dishonesty, inappropriate content, or rule violations.

  • WSCCA can also verify the accuracy of the information provided.

  • WSCCA reserves the right, in their sole discretion, to disqualify any application at any time in the event it is determined that the Applicant has not complied with or abused any Official Rules listed.

  • WSCCA reserves the right, in their sole discretion, to independently verify the accuracy of all information provided as part of the application

 

Selection of Winners:

Applications will be judged by the WSCCA Selection Committee based on:​

  • Transcript Submission

  • Leadership 

  • Citizenship/Community Service Submission 

  • Video Resume Submission 

  • Essay Submission 

Prizes:

2 winners will receive $2,000 scholarships and 6 winners will receive $1,000 scholarships. Winners will be notified by May 15, 2026.

Scholarship Disbursement:

Scholarships will be sent directly to each winner's chosen college or school after verifying enrollment as a full-time student for Fall 2026. These scholarships are one-year, non-renewable awards. If a winner doesn’t meet these requirements, the scholarship will be forfeited

Winners may only accept this scholarship if their total scholarships do not exceed their school’s financial aid limit or actual education costs (e.g., tuition, room, board, books). Scholarships will not be split into smaller amounts (e.g., less than $2,000 or $1000).

If a scholarship is forfeited, WSCCA may select a runner-up. Additional terms may apply, and winners are responsible for taxes or extra costs. Scholarships are non-transferable and cannot be substituted, except at the sponsors’ discretion

By applying, you confirm that all information submitted is accurate and that your essay is original. WSCCA may verify details and disqualify applications for dishonesty, violations, or inappropriate content. Applications cannot infringe on the privacy or rights of others. Sponsors also reserve the right to cancel or modify the scholarship process due to unforeseen circumstances.

General Rules:

  • By applying, all submitted materials become the property of the WSCCA, who may use or modify them for promotional purposes in any media, without further compensation or permission.

  • Applicants (or parents/guardians, if minors) consent to WSCCA using their name, hometown, and likeness for advertising.

  • WSCCA are not responsible for incomplete, late, lost, or faulty applications or technical issues during submission.

  • WSCCA may cancel or modify the scholarship process due to unforeseen issues, like technical disruptions or unauthorized interference.

  • Applicants must release WSCCA from any claims or damages related to their participation.

  • Misrepresentation, fraud, or tampering with the process may result in disqualification.

 

Construction:

 If any rule is deemed invalid, the remaining rules will stay enforceable and apply as intended.

Kristine Munson
Scholarship Chair

Kristine Munson is an accomplished cheer coach, program leader, and mentor who has made a significant impact on cheerleading in the Maple Valley community and across Washington State. As the Head Cheer Coach for Tahoma High School she brings years of experience developing athletes, building championship‑caliber teams, and elevating cheer programs at both the youth and high‑school levels.

 

Before joining THS, Kristine served as the Head Coach and Director for the Tahoma Junior Bears Cheer program, where her leadership helped shape one of the most successful youth cheer teams in the region. Under her direction, this powerhouse youth program earned continuous State Championships, National Championships, and a Grand National title. 

 

At Tahoma High School, Kristine continues to elevate the program, contributing to recent back to back Grand State Championship titles and National UCA Championship success in multiple divisions. Her commitment to athlete development extends beyond technical training, as she is known for fostering confidence, leadership, and personal growth in every athlete she coaches.  Her teams are recognized for their strength, skill, leadership, and relentless work ethic, reflecting Kristine’s high standards and athlete‑centered coaching philosophy.

 

Kristine continues to serve the Washington cheer community as the College Director for the Washington State Cheer Coaches Association, supporting athletes in their pursuit of collegiate cheer opportunities. She also chairs the Scholarship Committee, co-chairs the All-State Committee and serves in several additional committee roles within the WSCCA.  Kristine also serves as a judge for Varsity All-Star Cheerleading.

Nikka Dieckman
Scholarship Co-Chair

Nikka Dieckman serves as the Secretary of the Washington State Cheerleading Coaches Association (WSCCA), a nonprofit organization dedicated to the education and development of cheerleading coaches in Washington. Her role reflects her commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive environment for cheerleaders and coaches alike.

Nikka is deeply passionate about empowering underrepresented groups and promoting access to education through scholarships. Her advocacy aligns with WSCCA's mission to provide yearly scholarships to deserving cheerleaders, ensuring that financial barriers do not hinder talented individuals from pursuing their dreams. 

Through her work, Nikka Dieckman exemplifies the values of leadership, equity, and dedication, inspiring others to embrace the transformative power of cheerleading and education. Her efforts continue to make a meaningful impact on the lives of many, both on and off the mat.
