About
Each year the WSCCA honors coaches, programs, and athletic directors with awards nominated by their peers, athletes, and parents. We take pride in lifting others up and recognizing their great accomplishments. Our annual nomination process generally opens in May, with awards announced at the Pacific Northwest Coaches Conference.

2023 Recreational Coach of the Year
Vanessa Perez- Tahoma Jr. Bears
This Coach is the most hardworking, disciplined, and dedicated coach I have ever met. She deserves this award because of all of the hours she has put into this non-paying job and always strives to give us the best of the best. She has amazing choreography and has a reputation of winning back-to-back competitions. I truly think that she deserves this award.
She has blown me away with her knowledge, ability to teach high level skills to young athletes and continued dedication to her team year after year!. My daughter is on her team, and I am in awe of how quickly she has learned skills and then performs and executes them at a competition the same week! This is an example of how talented Vanessa is. She knows how to explain and teach skills properly. She is patient and kind and makes everyone on her team feel valued and apart of the team. She makes cheerleading fun and doesn't burn them out which can easily happen at a young age. She is more than deserving of Rec Coach of the Year
2023 Recreational Assistant Coach of the Year
Deanna Schild - Federal Way Hawks
This Coach is so wonderful with the girls. Many of us are low income or come from one income families and it can be difficult to purchase certain things for the girls.
She goes out of her way to make sure our girls don’t feel any less than other teams. She dedicates her time to hand make so many items, customize the girls bows and make them look like a million bucks. She also customized herself the girls socks!!!
All that plus during practice she has so much patience. It amazes me how well she knows the girls and just knows how to teach every girl in a way they find it fun . My 7 year old has found a passion and I am forever grateful to the coaches.
This Coach gives her all to her team(s). She choreographs the routines. She wants the cheerleaders to do the best they can and never give up! The team loves her!
2023 Recreational Program of the Year
Yelm Tornados
This program has been amazing for this community and for my daughter, she has enjoyed cheering and learning not just about cheer, but also, how to be a great teammate and person. She looks forward to going to practices and admires all her coaches.
The Yelm Tornados are committed to a great environment for youth football and cheer. I love the atmosphere that they provide, not only cheering for your own team but others and the High School . Overall a great program that I am proud to be a part of.
2023 Recreational Rising Star
Katie Dawn Vine – Puyallup Jr. Vikings
This Coach is one of the most enthusiastic and personable coaches I’ve ever worked with. My daughter had a tough few months at the beginning of the school year. She listened to her, boosted her confidence, and helped her grow as an athlete but a person as well.
She motivated these athletes beyond what they thought was possible. This program went from nothing to Jr. State Champs for the youth rec division. Coach Katie and the team she selected devoted many hours developing new and improved routines that would showcase each athletes' unique qualities.
2023 Recreational Administrator of the Year
Stacy Peterson, South Kitsap Pee Wee
Stacy is an amazing coach. She knows the girls and what they can do and she doesn't ask if they want to do something she just tells them let's try this and when they are a little hesitant, she tells them they will be amazing and gives them lots of encouragement.
She is an amazing Cheer Director and she has given her all to the cheerleaders and their families. She went out of her way to get the uniforms ordered, resized, and never stopped until it was complete. A lot of families don't realize how much goes on behind the scenes when it comes to putting these programs on.
